Expansion of Power Projects of United Group

UPGD – Dhaka and Chittagong Export Processing Zones

To cater for ever increasing electricity demand of Dhaka Export Processing Zone and Chittagong Export Processing Zone, BEPZA & UPGD signed an agreement to expand the existing Natural Gas fired 41 MW Power Plant in Dhaka EPZ, Dhaka and 44 MW Power Plant in Chittagong EPZ up to 100 MW each. They also signed a Power Supply Agreement on 21st November 2011. These were the milestone agreements in recognition of relentless service provided by the UPGD to two premier EPZs of BEPZA.
Agreement has been signed with Rolls-Royce, the world renowned genset manufacturer on 30th May, 2012 for supply of total 8 units of Rolls-Royce B35:40V20AG2 Engines.  These are gas-fired engines with generating capacity of 9340 kWe each and the total expansion capacity of 74720 kWe. Thus the total capacity of Dhaka and Chttagong EPZ Power Plants would go up to 86 MW and 72 MW respectively on completion of the project. With the current momentum of progress, the expected COD is March 2013.

Shajahanullah Power Generation Company Ltd (SPGCL)

To meet the ever increasing power demand of Industrial and Commercial Projects of Sylhet area, SPGCL is setting up a Commercially Independent Natural Gas Fired 28 MW Power Plant in Kumargaon, Sylhet. This is the 6th Power Unit of United Group and reflects its firm commitment to assist the nation in eradicating the power shortage.

SPGCL also signed an agreement with Rolls-Royce on 14th June, 2012 for supply of 3 units of Rolls-Royce B35:40V20AG2 Engines. These machines will have total expansion capacity of 28020 and the total capacity of SPGCL will be __ MW on completion of the project. With the current momentum of progress, the expected COD is April 2013.
